Alistair Overeem already back in good graces of UFC brass

It looks like UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has said and done the right things since testing positive for an elevated T:E Ratio brought on by testosterone use. Overeem, who cannot apply for a license to fight until late December as a result of the issue, immediately drew criticism from UFC President Dana White after having guaranteed he would never fail a drug test. However, the outspoken executive’s tune has changed in light of recent developments.

Overeem Expresses Desire to Fight Before End of 2012

“He’s doing all the right things now. He’s fixing all the wrongs,” said White to media (including MMAFighting) during last week’s UFC 148 festivities, adding he had, “Nothing but respect for Alistair now.”

Overeem recently revealed he is undergoing monthly drug testing to establish some trust with the UFC, as well as with the Nevada Athletic Commission, and prove his general innocence. Overeem initially took responsibility for having testosterone in his system, though he also explained it was the result of a doctor-prescribed anti-inflammatory rather than a conscious decision to put the substance in his body.
