To get fans primed and ready for UFC 149, Renan “Barao’s” breakthrough performance against Brad Pickett at UFC 138 has been made free to the public, courtesy of the Brazilian’s official youtube channel.
Pegado was on a 16-fight tear when he came into the cage to face the extremely tough ATT product in this bantamweight bout, unfortunately for the Brit, he ostensibly bit off more than he could chew. Although it was a hotly contested bout for the duration, with both men hurting each other, the moment “Barao” was able to take the fight to the mat, it was elementary. Pickett was forced to tap at 4:09 of the opening frame. The instant classic earned both men “Fight of The Night” honors.
Barao, who UFC commentator Joe Rogan has dubbed “the best fighter in the world without a title” will get his chance to change that moniker this weekend as he faces Urijah Faber for the interim UFC Bantamweight Championship. The Brazilian steps into the cage as a replacement for the champion, Dominick Cruz, who suffered an injury keeping him out of the bout. UFC 149 takes place live this Saturday at the Soctiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The event will be broadcast on Pay Per-View.
