The UFC’s November 10 visit to Macau, China for UFC on Fuel 6 may very well be headlined by a legend locking horns with a legitimate martial artist, as company head Dana White recently confirmed the organization is looking at putting together a bout between Rich Franklin-Cung Le.
White’s statement on the matter came at a press conference for UFC 149 where he explained, “If Cung fights in China, it’ll be against Rich Franklin.” Le is currently nursing an injured foot sustained in his recent win over Patrick Cote.
Le Still All Smiles Despite Damaged Limb
Le is 8-2 in his MMA career but was a decorated San Shou kickboxer in the past as well. The former Strikeforce middleweight champ holds strike-based stoppages against seven of the eight individuals he’s beaten including Frank Shamrock and Scott Smith.
Franklin also knows what it feels like to wear divisional gold, holding the UFC’s middleweight title for a time before Anderson Silva showed up on the scene. The 29-6 “Ace” holds past victories over the likes of Yushin Okami, Chuck Liddell, and most recently Wanderlei Silva.
