Ryan Jimmo wins Knockout of the Night at UFC 149 with seven-second stoppage of Anthony Perosh

It’s hard to debut in a style any better than former MFC light heavyweight champ Ryan Jimmo did last night at UFC 149. Jimmo, who entered the bout with an impressive winning streak and reputation for relatively boring bouts, shattered the latter perception by blasting Anthony Perosh into unconsciousness with the first strike he landed.

The seven-second stoppage tied a UFC record for fastest finish ever and was named the show’s Knockout of the Night, earning him an extra $65,000 as a result. It also improved his overall record to 17-1 including seventeen straight instances of success.

Fight of the Night was awarded to Bryan Caraway-Mitch Gagnon for their exciting undercard effort. Both men showed off impressive grappling ability, as well as composure and heart by escaping near-disaster at different points in the match-up. They too won $65,000 each for the distinction.

A Closer Look at Caraway-Gagnon

Last but not least, another preliminary card competitor won Submission of the Night in the form of Matt Riddle. Riddle, who also notched $65,000 for the honor, latched on an Arm-Triangle Choke in a standing position after ducking an errant spinning backfist from opponent Chris Clements, then tripped him and drew out the tap shortly after things hit the mat.
