After a recent breakthrough performance which saw Chan Sung Jung style on Dustin Poirier en route to a fourth round submission victory, it was revealed that the “Korean Zombie” had turned in a brilliant fight with a torn rotator cuff. While “Zombie” was expected to be a part of the UFC’s November debut in Macau, he has opted to undergo shoulder surgery to repair the damage.
With a recent injury to UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, who has Erik Koch waiting in the wings to welcome the reigning king back to the octagon, Jung has chosen to take this time off, likely securing his position as the next title challenger.
Unfortunately for fans of the “Korean Zombie’s” fighting style, he will ostensibly be on the shelf for the remainder of the year.
