The numbers are in and they are surprising, last night’s UFC on Fuel TV offering averaged 211,00 viewers, with the peak in viewership coming in at around 291,000 for the evening’s main event.
Chris Weidman’s stunning performance over middleweight contender Mark Munoz now boasts the second highest ratings in the short history of the promotion’s tenure on the platform, second only their third offering.
The event, which took place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, saw the Serra-Longo protege turn in an impressive career-defining performance against Munoz, launching himself into the title picture. Also on the main card was a light heavyweight barn-burner which saw James Te Huna take a unanimous decision over a tough Joey Beltran as both men recklessly threw hands for fifteen minutes.
While the numbers are dwarfed by most pay per-view and Fox ratings, one must take into account the fact that Fuel is not readily available as a platform to many, many homes across the country. The fact the UFC is still able to draw relatively successful on numbers on Fuel speaks volumes about the product.
