Chad Griggs fighting Cyrille Diabate at UFC 154

The UFC finished off the lineup for UFC 154 today by announcing light heavyweights Chad Griggs and Cyrille Diabate would duke it out at the November 17 event in Montreal. While neither is Canadian, chances are Diabate should be the overwhelming fan-favorite come showtime considering the locale and his French roots.

Diabate has gone 3-2 since signing with the UFC, picking up victories over Luiz Cane, Steve Cantwell, and most recently Tom DeBlass. The 39-year old “Snake” holds an overall record of 18-8-1 with thirteen stoppages to his credit.

In addition to being a “must win” fight for Griggs, who was tapped out by Travis Browne in his UFC debut, the former Strikeforce fighter will also be fighting for the first time as a light heavyweight. Prior to the loss the 11-2 Griggs had found success in six straight scraps including those over Gian Villante, Bobby Lashley, and Valentijn Overeem.

UFC 154 is headlined by a title-unification bout between linear champion Georges St-Pierre and interim king Carlos Condit. Other fights scheduled for the show include Patrick Cote-Alessio Sakara and Martin Kampmann-Johny Hendricks.
