“Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” Update: Carmouche Welcomes McMann to Strikeforce

Strikeforce veteran, and fellow Invicta FC fighter, Liz Carmouche (pictured) will welcome 2004 Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann to the promotion November 3 in Oklahoma City. MMAFighting first reported the story and Strikeforce officials have confirmed the bout.

This matchup will be a stern test for the recently signed McMann. McMann is now 6-0 and is coming off an intense fight at Invicta FC 2, where she defeated Shayna Bazler in a “Fight of the Year” candidate. While a dominant wrestler by trade, McMann has spent a lot of time diversifying her striking and submission skills as well. Making the Limestone wrestler one of the best women’s bantamweight prospects around.

Her opponent, Carmouche, is a proud Marine and LGBT community advocate who has stacked an impressive 7-2 record to this point in her career. While McMann is one of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in US history, Carmouche has very strong wrestling of her own to go with an evolving striking game.

The bout will likely headline the Showtime Extreme undercard for “Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir.” The final Strikeforce heavyweight bout between Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier and UFC heavyweight contender Frank Mir. The main card will be co-headlined by a middleweight title fight between champ Luke Rockhold and Lorenz Larkin.
