The Bellator Fighting Championships announced on Wednesday that Bellator 78 will take place from the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio on October 26th.
The Bellator 78 main card will feature the semifinal round of the eight-man season 7 welterweight tournament, powerful middleweight Brian “The Predator” Rogers and the return of Bellator women’s champion Zoila “Warrior Princess” Gurgel.
The heavy-handed Rogers (9-4) will get the opportunity to compete in front of is home state fans of Ohio. He will also get the opportunity to rebound from his last loss which was also in Ohio at Bellator 66. He suffered a second round knockout loss to Andreas Spang in the semifinals of the season 6 middleweight tournament. Rogers has won all of his fights by stoppage including eight by way of knockout.
Gurgel (11-1) has been out of action for over a year recovering from foot and knee injuries. She captured the Bellator women’s title with a win over Megumi Fujii at Bellator 34 in October 2010. She last competed at Bellator 35 in March 2011 where she outpointed Karina Hallinan.
Bellator 78 will be televised live on MTV 2 and EPIX HD and the preliminary card will be streamed free online at Spike.com.
