Dana White talks UFC on FOX 4, Dos Santos, Rory MacDonald injury, more…
UFC President Dana White met with the media following the post-fight press conference for a fantastic UFC on FOX 4. He discussed a variety of topics and a few of the highlights include:
Dana was very pleased with the event. He believe that FOX is starting to believe that they [UFC] knows what they are doing when putting on a show.
He believed that Bader was trying to make something happen against Machida as he got caught rushing in.
Varner looked awesome and he may have a broken hand. Despite rumors he has never had a problem with Varner.
Dana was very happy for Swick, he said that he loves that kid.
All of the fighters brought it tonight and it was tough to choose who was awarded the UFC on FOX 4 bonuses.
Rory MacDonald suffered a bad cut above his eye during training. He is out of his scheduled bout with BJ Penn at UFC 152. MacDonald would like to reschedule the fight to face Penn in Montreal. White says that he just learned the news and needs to talk to Penn.
Regarding the decision to award the title shot to Machida, Dana stated that he was more impressive and also that he appears to want it more. Machida had expressed his desire for a title shot.
He said that the referees did an outstanding job.
Jon Jones does not get an automatic rematch against Dan Henderson if he were to lose his light heavyweight title at UFC 151.
Junior Dos Santos said that he has all the respect in the world for Cain Velasquez but does not want to rematch him. Instead, Dos Santos said that he wants to knockout Alistair Overeem.
