First Lady of WWE Linda McMahon wins primary in Connecticut, in race for Senate seat

While the WWE Universe may be squarely focused on this Sunday’s PPV, one of the company’s key members scored a major victory a few days before Summer Slam in the form of Linda McMahon’s political success. Last night the matriarch of the McMahon family emerged from her primary in Connecticut against Chris Shays with her hand raised, scoring her the Republican slot opposite Democrat Chris Murphy in the coming race for the State’s vacant spot on the U.S. Senate.

However, McMahon’s win did not come without a price, as she is stated to have spent approximately $11 million on the campaign, 10X the amount her opponent forked out. In the end she earned more than 70% of the vote for the effort.

The race marks the second time McMahon has attempted to win the Senate seat, spending an estimated $50 million in 2010 only to come up short in the end.
