Few fighters have experienced as major a shift from high to low as UFC newcomer Wagner Prado did earlier this month in a match-up against fellow light heavyweight Phil Davis. Prado, making his debut, was a picture of pure joy entering the Octagon but ended up in the dregs of disappointment after an accidental eye-poke ended his evening.
Prado, who couldn’t see clearly after eating a finger from Davis less than 90 seconds into the scrap, was deemed unable to compete. Fortunately for the young Brazilian, not only did the UFC book a rematch between the two, but it appears they’ve awarded Prado to an extent by moving the bout from UFC on FX 5 to UFC 153 based on the removal of Alan Belcher-Vitor Belfort from the October 13 event.
UFC officials have confirmed the change. The card is scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro with notable fights such as Jon Fitch-Erick Silva, Quinton Jackson-Glover Teixeira, and Jose Aldo-Erik Koch.
The 8-0 Prado has stopped seven of his opponents by way of strikes, while Davis is looking to bounce back from the first defeat of his career after racking up nine straight to start it off.
