Mike Swick returning to the ring on December 8 against Matt Brown

Whether a fan of his or not, it was hard to resist rooting for UFC welterweight Mike Swick earlier this month when the Ultimate Fighter original took to the Octagon at UFC on FOX 4 after more than two years away to deal with injuries and a career-threatening illness. Fortunately, Swick won’t be waiting nearly so long for his follow up to the second round knockout he scored at the event, as the American Kickboxing Academy staple has agreed to meet Matt Brown on December 8 at UFC on FOX 5.

Swick confirmed the match-up on Twitter, saying the verbal aspect of the deal was in place with paperwork still needing to be signed. The pairing will join the others on the Seattle show including Mauricio Rua-Alexander Gustafsson, B.J. Penn-Rory MacDonald, and headliner Benson Henderson-Nate Diaz.

The 33-year old Swick has compiled a 15-4 record in his career including wins inside under the UFC banner over Joe Riggs, David Loiseau, and Ben Saunders. Eleven of his victories have involved some form of finish.

Brown has looked fairly sharp himself as of late, stringing together a trio of successful showings to improve his overall mark to 15-11. He was last seen stopping Luis Ramos with strikes this past June at UFC on FX 4.
