Wagner Prado Medically Cleared to Train, Wants Rematch with Phil Davis on UFC on Fox 5

Brazilian kickboxing specialist Wagner Prado stepped in to the cage to face the highly touted prospect Phil Davis at UFC on Fox 4 in his promotional debut. Although the Brazilian started out well, an unfortunate eye poke ended his night, bringing the fight to a halt with a no contest. Prado was then indefinitely suspended, pending clearance from an opthamologist.

Although “Caldeirao” had trouble seeing out of his eye for days, he told Tatame that he has seen a specialist and is once again cleared to train.

My eye doctor said I was good to go, I can train again. He said he’s sending me the report so I can forward it to the UFC, authorizing me to fight again.

As for what’s next for the Nogueira student, he made it clear that he wants another shot at Phil Davis as soon as possible, saying ”I’m waiting for them. If I can fight then it’s good. If it can’t happen let them chose another date. I’ll foward this to UFC and see what they decide.” UFC President Dana White has gone on record saying he hopes to put the rematch together for UFC on Fox 5, which now seems feasible as the Brazilian is once again healthy.
