The World Series of Fighting is officially headed to Las Vegas later this year after receiving their promoters license last week.
Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer confirmed with MMAWeekly.com on Monday that the World Series of Fighting had their promoters license officially approved last Friday, and they are now able to put on events in the state.
The World Series of Fighting is a new organization headed up by K-1 legend Ray Sefo, and already has several high profile fighters expected to compete on their debut card.
The first World Series of Fighting event is expected to take place in early November in Las Vegas, and sources have indicated that they will have a major media partner in place for the broadcast of the show.
The World Series of Fighting is based around the tournament format of events with 16-man brackets filling up five different weight classes in the promotion.
The first card however will just be a standard fight card as they introduce themselves to the world of MMA.
Dominance MMA owner and operator Ali Abdel-Aziz will be acting as matchmaker for the new promotion.
Several former UFC, Strikeforce and Pride competitors are expected to be a part of the World Series of Fighting when they make their debut later this year.
The tournament will include 16 fighters in each weight class and will take place over a span of 12 months. Here are some of the fighters scheduled to participate in the tournaments (According to the company website).
Lightweight- Roger Huerta, Shane Nelson, Ronys Torres, John Gunderson, Brian Cobb, Jared Downing, Norman Parke and Kurt Southern.
Welterweight- Ramico Blackmon, Igor Gracie, Gregor Gracie, Andrews Nakahara, Yordan Radev, Tyson Stelle and Tim Welch.
Middleweight- David Branch, Thales Leites, Jorge Santiago and Warren Thompson.
Light Heavyweight- Tom Murphy, Jamal Patterson, Eric Smith, Tyrone Sprong and Gilbert Yvel.
Heavyweight- Chris Barnett, Rolles Gracie, Jerome LaBanner and Justin McCully.
