With Curran Out, Patricio “Pitbull” Pulled From Bellator 73

With the unfortunate injury suffered by Bellator Feathwerweight Champion Pat Curran, who suffered a broken orbital and was subsequently forced to bow out of his Bealltor 73 title defense against Patricio Freire, “Pitbull”  has found himself off the card entirely.

Bellator 73 is now headlined by the season 6 tournament final as Marcos Galvao meets his countryman Luis Nogueira. Galvao (12-5-1) took unanimous decision victories over Ed West and Travis Marx to advance to the tournament finals. Noguiera (14-2), the season’s surprise sensation, defeated former tournament finalist Alexis Vila via unanimous decision in the quarterfinals. “Betao” then went on to knockout Japanese veteran Hiroshi Nakamura in the semifinals, earning his place against Galvao.

Bellator 73 takes place this Friday, August 24, at Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino in Mississippi. The main card will air live on MTV2 while the prelims are streamed on Spike.com.
