Former light heavyweight Luiz Cane will once again be fighting in Brazil after a long layoff to meet Chris Camozzi in his middleweight debut at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro. UFC 153 takes place at the HSBC Arena on October 13 and is headlined by Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against Erik Koch.
“Banha” (12-4) looked unstoppable when his UFC run began, going 3-1 in the promotion, with his sole loss coming behind an illegal knee which saw him disqualified against James Irvin. After a 1-3 run since 2009, however, the ATT product has chosen to test the waters at middleweight. Welcoming him to the division will be Colorado native Chris Camozzi.
Camozzi (17-5) most recently displayed a metric ton of heart in a come-from-behind win against Nick Catone at UFC on FX 4 in June. The Factory-X product is currently on a two fight win-streak and looks to prove to Cane that a move middleweight will not make it any easier for him to stick around in the UFC.
