The card for UFC 153 continues to grow bigger and bigger by the day, as welterweights Jon Fitch and Erick Silva have been linked to the event set for October 13 in Rio de Janeiro. Currently, the main event boasts UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo defending his title against Erik Koch. Fellow Brazilians Glover Teixeira (vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson) and Vitor Belfort (against Alan Belcher) have also been signed to the card.
UFC Tonight insider Ariel Helwani confirmed Fitch and Silva have signed verbal agreements to square off at the show.
Fitch (23-4-1) is coming off the first knockout loss of his UFC career when Johny Hendricks defeated him late last year. A knee injury took the one-time title-contender out of a planned fight with Aaron Simpson in his return bout, though clearly Fitch has healed to the point he’ll be ready this fall.
Silva, meanwhile, will be seeking the biggest win of his brief UFC career. The Brazilian sports a 14-2 career mark including a 2-1 record inside the Octagon.
